George Fox University, or GFU, for short, is a Christian university of the liberal arts and sciences, and professional studies located in Newberg, which is a city in Yamhill County, in the US state of Oregon, with a population estimated at a number of more than 21 600 inhabitants, at the time of the 2007 census, which made it the 2nd most populous city in the county.
GFU was established in 1885 and was founded by Quaker pioneers, first starting as Friends Pacific Academy, before becoming a college in 1891, and adopting the name Pacific College. Its current name was adopted in 1996, when it merged with Western Evangelical Seminary.
The university presently offers its students bachelor's degrees in more than 40 majors, adult degree programs, five seminary degrees, and 11 master's and doctoral degrees.
GFU's athletic teams are known as the Bruins and they compete in NCAA Division III, with 9 men's and women's sports. The school official colors are old gold and navy blue.
